Warden Park Primary is a 'good' school

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to you following the Ofsted inspection of Warden Park Primary Academy which took place 10 - 11 June.  I am delighted to inform you that the inspection team awarded 'good' ratings in all areas; leadership and management, behaviour and safety, quality of teaching, achievement of goals and early years provision.  The report states that our school has improved considerably over recent years.

The report is a real testament to the school staff and the incredible journey we have been on.

The staff and Directors at Warden Park Primary Academy have shown commitment and determination to ensure that our school provides the best possible outcomes for your children.  I am delighted that this has been recognised by Ofsted and I feel privileged to be working with such a dedicated and talented team.  This result could also not have been achieved without the trust, understanding and support of parents/carers for which we are extremely grateful.

During the inspection, the children represented our school brilliantly, politely interacting with the inspectors demonstrating enthusiasm and positivity. Since taking up the role of headteacher, my belief and pride in the children has been unfaltering and the inspection team's reflection on their good behaviour highlights the fact that the children know that they have to work really hard to 'reach for the stars' and that nothing great comes without considerable effort.

The full inspection report is attached below but the following is a summary of the main strengths:

  • WPPA is a school which has improved considerably.
  • Teachers are committed to continuing the school’s improvement journey.
  • Teaching has improved significantly and the curriculum is broad and exciting
  • Pupils are very proud of their school and their behaviour around the school and in lessons is generally good.
  • Pupils trust their teachers and say that they know they can talk to their teachers about issues they face.
  • The progress which pupils are making throughout the school is good or better. Standards of attainment improved last year and were in line with the national average at the end of Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Pupils with special educational needs make good progress because they are usually well supported in class and through the additional help and support they receive.
  • The early years provision is much stronger than it has been in the past and, as a result, children are better prepared for Key Stage 1. Adults have high expectations of children, both when they are learning through play and when they are taking part in adult-led activities.
  • Parents are enthusiastic in their praise for the work of the school.

We have already recognised and made plans to address the suggestions for improvement contained in the report.  We will continue to focus our efforts and energy on ensuring all staff have consistently high expectations and the leadership team will continue to be tenacious in their monitoring of these standards.  We will share a more fulsome summary of our development plans for the academic year 2015/16 at our start the year event in September.  I am confident and determined that the school will continue to grow and move from strength to strength.
